St. Louise de Marillac together with St. Vincent de Paul, founded the Daughters
of Charity in France in 1633. The Daughters of Charity is an International Community
of Apostolic Life within the Catholic Church. The sisters came to Ireland in 1855
and first arrived in Ballyfermot on the 8th October 1957. They opened St. Louise
de Marillac Junior School in 1958.
St. Louise's School is designated by The Department of Education & Science as
a DEIS (Delivering Equality of Opportunity
in School) Primary School. This initiative is designed to ensure that the school
benefits from a comprehensive package of supports to assist the work of the school.
