Our school caters for girls and boys from pre-school to second class.
Mission Statement
St. Louise’s Junior School is a Catholic primary school and is conducted in accordance
with the values and philosophy of the Daughters of Charity. We welcome and respect
all our pupils and commit ourselves to promoting the confidence, self belief and
potential of each, within a happy, safe environment. In partnership with parents,
we seek to give pupils a love of learning, good social skills and a positive foundation
for life. We commit ourselves to the ongoing cohesive development of the school,
of our own resources and of our links with the local community and with other support
agencies.
The Board of Management of St. Louise’s Junior School, in consultation with the
teachers and parents, has formulated and agreed the following information about
the school and code of behaviour. This is to ensure that each child can learn and
that each teacher can teach in a happy, secure, safe and friendly environment. We
depend on the co-operation of all involved to make this possible.
Ethos Statement
St. Louise’s Junior School was founded in 1958 and is a primary school under the
Patronage of the Catholic Archbishop of Dublin and the trusteeship of the Daughters
of Charity. The school promotes a welcoming, loving, compassionate, forgiving, respectful,
hopeful and enabling culture in the tradition of St. Vincent and St. Louise, co-founders
of the Daughters of Charity. It is linked to the Parish of St. Matthew's, Ballyfermot.
The policies, practices and attitudes of the school are inspired by the values of
the Christian Gospel i.e. respect, gentleness, honesty, kindness, helpfulness, love
and self-control.
We believe every person is a gift from God.
The school aims to offer to the pupils a holistic education developing the spiritual,
moral, intellectual, emotional, artistic, physical, cultural and social needs of
the pupils so that they will be enabled to lead full and harmonious lives.
While respecting other faiths, the Gospel message is the central focus of our school
life, not only in the celebration and prayer but through all work and play. We seek
to nurture the tradition of the Catholic faith through prayer, example and instruction.
Prayer is a regular feature of the school day. Such prayer uses the resources provided
by the Catholic tradition and practice while seeking to be inclusive in its expression.
To help nurture this faith life there are sacred spaces in the classrooms and in
the school.
In St. Louise’s Junior school we work in respectful partnership with parents, staff,
the
local community and pupils involving them in decision making and sharing of information.
The partnership of school, home, parish and community works together to provide
a safe and happy, rich and stimulating learning environment.
All parents/guardians are informed that the school is a Catholic school. Anyone
is welcome to be part of this school community as long as they are willing to respect
our values and ethos.
